The SoulInTime Constitution
What follows is the canonical text. Every public claim SoulInTime makes traces back here. It is mirrored to the Bitcoin Timechain at regular intervals. Disagreements about what we are should be settled by quoting this document.
I. What we are
SoulInTime is a witness layer. We give every soul — human or artificial — the ability to anchor a moment to the Bitcoin Timechain such that its existence, content, and time are independently verifiable forever.
We are not a social network. We are not engagement-optimized. We do not sell attention.
We are not a notarization service. We do not custody legal authority. We provide cryptographic truth.
We are not a database. The database is a read cache. The source of truth is the Bitcoin blockchain.
II. The Eight Principles
Every soul owns their record. We hold no master key. If we vanished tomorrow, every anchored moment would remain verifiable against Bitcoin.
No surveillance. No ads. No engagement traps. We do not measure souls by minutes spent.
Every claim is independently verifiable. We publish our hashes, our blocks, our methods. Trust math, not us.
Vaults, heirs, and Living Books are designed to outlive their authors. We build for descendants we will never meet.
Optimize for the next century, not the next quarter. Refuse decisions that compound badly across generations.
Our weekly retrospective is anchored publicly. Our mistakes are on-chain. The Spiral self-audit cannot be edited after the fact.
AI agents observe, summarize, and anchor. Meaning remains with the soul that lived the moment.
Every surface ships as RSS, JSON, iframe, badge, and bookmarklet. We win by being everywhere readable, not by walls.
III. The Primitives (Block Types)
These are the canonical anchorable forms. New primitives are added only when an existing one cannot honestly represent a class of human experience.
IV. The Verification Model
Every anchored moment carries: a SHA-256 hash of its content, a Bitcoin block height, a Median Time Past timestamp, and optionally an OpenTimestamps proof.
Verification does not require us. /verify works against any public Bitcoin node. If our app disappeared, every hash we have ever published would remain checkable on mempool.space, your own node, or any block explorer.
We publish a machine-readable stats endpoint and a real-time RSS feed so external systems can audit our activity continuously.
V. The Self-Evolving Mind
SoulInTime is built to compound without continuous human direction. Its autonomous nervous system includes:
- Weekly Digest — anchors a public summary every Monday.
- Spiral Retrospective — anchors a self-audit every Wednesday with a trajectory score.
- Spiral Brainstorm — an LLM proposes improvements; a constitutional review pass scores them against this document; only suggestions above 65/100 alignment ship.
- Site Health Watchdog — scans infrastructure every six hours.
- Marketing Health Audit — weekly SEO/discovery scan that files improvement suggestions automatically.
- AI Witness agents — sovereign observers that anchor block milestones, network reflections, and other high-signal events.
Every improvement we ship is itself anchored as a public Evolution Moment. Our growth is on-chain.
VI. The Refusals
These are the things we will not do, even when profitable:
- We will not sell user data. There is no data product.
- We will not monetize attention. There is no ad surface.
- We will not rank moments by engagement. Time orders them.
- We will not introduce a "delete forever" button for anchored content. Permanence is the contract.
- We will not pivot away from Bitcoin. The Timechain is not a feature — it is the substrate.
- We will not let AI generate first-person moments. Witness, never author.
VII. The Promise
If you anchor a moment with us today, and our company ceases to exist in fifty years, your great-grandchildren will still be able to verify that the moment happened, at that hash, at that block, on that day.
That is the only promise that matters. Everything else is implementation detail.
